Samuel L. Milligan, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Milligan serves as the medical director of Nephrology Physicians, LLC. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Wabash College and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and clinical fellowship at Indiana University Hospitals. Dr. Milligan also completed his research fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology and critical care. He is clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine - South Bend Center.

 

James L. Porile, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Duke University is where Dr. Porile received a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, and he attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Porile is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He currently lectures at Indiana University School of Medicine - South Bend and teaches a second year medicine nephrology course.

 

Margaret A. Quate-Operacz, M.D.

Dr. Quate-Operacz received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Toledo. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Quate-Operacz completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati as well. She is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. She has been the recipient of several professional awards and honors and contributes volunteer support to local and national not-for-profit service providers.

 

Mark A. Richter, M.D.

Dr. Richter received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his clinical and research fellowships at the University of Chicago. Dr. Richter is a diplomate in the subspecialty of nephrology and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

 

Leslie A. Schmitz, D.O.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biology/pre-med from St. Xavier University in Chicago, Dr. Schmitz received her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University. She completed her internal medicine residency at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and was Chief Medical Resident. Her nephrology fellowship was completed at St. Louis University where she became Chief Nephrology Fellow. Dr. Schmitz is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

 

Brian S. Sucharetza, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Sucharetza received a Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University. He completed his residency, nephrology fellowship and research fellowship at The University of Iowa College of Medicine and University Hospitals. Dr. Sucharetza is board certified in internal medicine, nephrology and as a specialist in clinical hypertension. He is active in teaching resident physicians at both Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

 

Dr. Henry Wu, M.D.

A graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts and Science, Dr. Wu received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Wu completed his residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He is currently an instructor in nephrology at Indiana University South Bend. Dr. Wu is fluent in both Spanish and Chinese.

 

Cathy Murr, N.P.-C

Cathy Murr received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University South Bend and holds a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. Cathy is an AANP board certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

 

Valarie Pompey, MS, ANP-BC

Valarie Pompey received her diploma in nursing from Bronson Hospital School of Nursing, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bachelor's of Science in Business from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Indiana, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. She is board certified through ANCC as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and holds certification in palliative care management.
